|Liz Allbee (Berlin, Vermont, usa 1976) plays trumpet, as well as conch, electronics and voice. Her work spans many genres, primarily encompassing improvisation, electronic composition, instrument building, noise, weird pop, and experimental rock. She is interested in proto-lingualism and the gestures, loops, and tics of communication, and in re-configuring the tools and the hands that make them.
Besides her solo work, current groups and collaborations include:
Mensch Mensch Mensch with Burkhard Beins, Bogan Ghost w/Anthea Caddy, Pivot with Chris Heenan, Vagino w/Gino Robair, The Zoo w/Michael Vorfeld, Animal Nacht Quartet (w/Felicity Mangan, Ute Wassermann and Olaf Hochherz), and Berlins 24-piece Splitter Orchestra. She has played and recorded with Anthony Braxton, Fred Frith, Rova Saxophone Quartet, with members of Sun City Girls, Caroliner, and many others.
|"Many lesser oddball talents make the proud boast that they will invite you into their strange mental world and amaze you thereby. Allbee not only makes good on the promise, but she refuses to let you out again afterwards. I hereby dub her the Circe of the avant-garde music world, and I have now been turned into a pig."
